Crowd links or PBN: which to choose for promotion
We compare the two approaches by price, risk and results, and explain when it makes sense to combine them.
A PBN (private blog network) and crowd marketing solve different tasks. The first gives strong niche links under your control, the second adds naturalness and domain diversity.
Comparison
| Crowd | PBN | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per link | from $2 | from $30 |
| Control over the site | none | full |
| Risk of penalties | low | medium or high |
| Referral traffic | sometimes | almost none |
| Launch speed | days | weeks |
When to choose crowd links
- A new site that needs its first natural set of links
- A local business where mentions on city forums matter
- You need to dilute the profile after buying guest posts
When to choose a PBN
When the niche is very competitive and specific pages need a quick boost. But a PBN requires experience: a network is easy to expose through shared hosting, identical templates or registration data.
